WHAT'S NEW NOLA
824 Decatur Street - New Orleans, LA 70116 - (504) 586-2095
This absolutely charming gift shop in the French Quarter carries some of our candles and a large selection of southern style gifts, local art, and decor. It was my favorite gift shop long before we even made candles. You'll definitely want to stop in and have a look. They also have a website where you can purchase a wide selection of these items.
When ordering our candles online you won't get a lot of cute packaging. You will get a gorgeous hand poured non toxic soy candle with a beautiful label reminiscent of the old French Quarter, antique style lid, and cute twine bow. As much as I love nice packaging, really what's the point? It's going to get thrown out anyway. We decided to skip all that, waste less, and help conserve environmental resources. Our candles will come securely wrapped in bubble wrap in the smallest shipping box possible.

Our company is named after one of the most culturally rich places in the world, the French Quarter in New Orleans. Vieux Carrè, as it was originally called, means "old square." New Orleans was founded in 1718 and developed around the Vieux Carrè which was the cities central square. Today, the district is commonly known as the French Quarter.
Throughout the French Quarter there's sights and sounds to intrigue ones soul unlike any other place. You can hear the most melodic jazz music being played on every corner by street musicians. You can gaze upon aesthetic works art that locals hang daily amongst the iron gates at Jackson Square. You can walk through ancient cemeteries known here as "cities of the dead." You can dine on the most delectable creole cuisine or stroll through the Quarter sipping on your favorite cocktail.
This part of the city, the Vieux Carrè, is frozen in time. When you walk by the magnificent creole townhouses with their port cocheres you'll feel like you were part of it all. You can imagine yourself with such precise detail sitting in your horse drawn carriage coming down the old brick paved roads. This feeling, this astounding feeling that you get, this is the magic of the French Quarter.
We started our company because we have a passion for non toxic safe products. In addition to immense love of the ambiance and smell of candles. As well as incredible appreciation for the history, architecture, and culture of the French Quarter. Hence, Vieux Carrè Candle Company came to be.
Candles seem to get overlooked when it comes to how safe they are. Even though you aren't coming in direct contact with the candle, you're absolutely inhaling everything that the candle is made of. Once inhaled into the lungs it will get into your blood stream. Yikes!
Many candles are made of paraffin wax which comes from petroleum, coal, or oil and is highly toxic. These candles will also likely contain synthetic fragrances, parabens, phthalates, and even lead in the wick! Not something you or your family wants to be inhaling.
We have sourced the safest ingredients possible for all of our candles so that you don't have to worry about breathing in anything toxic. Not only are all of our candles made from natural soy, but it's non GMO soy! Many candle wicks are made from GMO cotton as well. Ours are made from organic hemp.
As for the scent of our candles, we promise you won't be disappointed! They smell amazing and we use 100% certified organic fragrance oils only. Even strictly using organic fragrances we are still able to offer almost all of your favorite scents while keeping all synthetics, parabens, and phthalates out of our candles.
Our candles come in reusable masons jars in a variety of sizes. They only come in the color cream so that we don't have to add any synthetic dyes.
All of the ingredients and materials used in our candles are sourced in the USA only. Not only does this benefit our country, but this way we know we are getting superior and safe quality products.
We hope the quality of our product, and the love we put into making each one, earns us the honor of having you as one of our life long customers.
Lastly, all of our candles are made in our home in New Orleans. We support local artists and small businesses wherever they may be and we hope you will too.
